LAUNCH | The Space, North Lakes

North Lakes youth space, The Space, opened recently (pictured above: Moreton Bay Regional Council’s Mayor Allan Sutherland speaks at the launch). The project involved the refurbishment of the former community centre for young people and includes purpose-built areas for emerging bands, dance and performance artists, activity rooms, basketball facilities, an informal chill space, a grassy knoll, skate elements and a computer lab.

YMCA will manage the space and in partnership with council will deliver a programs and services for young people. As previously reported, Harbinger’s John Armstrong mentored three emerging artists to develop artworks as part of the interior fit out. The artists – Emma Gray, Leah Dugdale and Dana Ferris – received Regional Arts Development Fund grants to develop a large scale wall prints for The Space (including the wall mounted work pictured above).
