PROJECT | North Lakes Youth Space

As part of the Moreton Bay Regional Council’s Emerge Project, Harbinger’s John Armstrong has been mentoring and working with three emerging artists. The artists – Emma Gray, Leah Dugdale and Dana Ferris – received Regional Arts Development Fund grants to develop a new work. John has worked with them since mid year to develop large scale wall prints for the North Lakes Youth Space.

The Youth Space is the result of a major refurbishment of the former Community Centre and will be launched by the Mayor Cr Alan Sutherland on 26 October. The works are part of an ongoing arts program which is intended to engage young people and encourage a sense of belonging in and ownership of the new centre.

The three emerging artists are also involved in the North Lakes Bus Station public art project and will be participating in a workshop with lead artist Leah King-Smith to collaboratively develop designs for a sandstone retaining wall. Their work for the Youth Space is shown below.
