LEARN | Upcoming conferences & training events

We are committed to learning and professional development and will pursue a range of upcoming opportunities over the next few weeks to develop our capability in regional development, urban dynamics and stakeholder engagement.

This week Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute’s (AHURI) National Urban Policy Conference – themed productive cities – is being presented in Sydney. The conference will feature consideration of the future of Australia cities including

  • long term infrastructure planning
  • planning for productivity growth
  • city competitiveness
  • planning for reduced transaction costs, improved productivity and enhanced liveability
  • future priorities for urban research, policy and practice.

This year’s conference is the first in a series of biennial events being convened by AHURI in partnership with the Australian Government.

We are also pursuing opportunities to develop our facilitation, stakeholder engagement and public participation practice with a number of upcoming seminars and courses including a free webinar on facilitation tips. We will be attending three International Association of Public Participation (IAP2) events including the Online Engagement Roadshow, a breakfast event exploring the future of engagement practice and the third and final accredited module of the Certificate of Public Participation.

Linda will also be attending the Australian Local Government Association’s Regional Cooperation and Development Forum in mid June as part of the Regional Development Australia National Forum.

Additionally, Linda is enrolled in the Coursera offering, Technicity, a massive open online course (MOOC) offered for free. This course is about cities and thinking about ways to make our cities better using technology. The course provides an opportunity to work on a specific project that would benefit from technology. Coursera is an education company that partners with the top universities and organizations in the world to offer courses online for anyone to take, for free. Our technology enables our partners to teach millions of students rather than hundreds.
