PROJECT | Long Time, No See?

Linda’s community engagement and catalyst role with the Long Time, No See? project has been bubbling along. Long Time, No See? is an art and technology project that will engage with several Brisbane communities to imagine the long term future. As one of the first high speed broadband enabled areas in the city, Aspley and surrounds will be a pilot for the project’s community and artistic engagement.

A call for registrations of interest has now been issued and residents of Aspley and surrounds, where the NBN is currently being rolled out, are invited to email their details and any questions to info@long-time-no-see.org.

Through innovative storytelling and mapping capabilities, the project aims to develop new understandings about our place, our environment, our community and our future through social media and content sharing.

Local residents are invited to participate in a program of events which will also provide an opportunity to learn social media skills, explore new ideas, and create stories for and about your locality. A series of innovative workshops will be held at local coffee shop Cup From Above in the New Year, as well as some ‘walkshops’ to undertake social mapping.

These actions will become part of an interactive online artwork funded by the Australia Council’s Broadband Arts Initiative and to be presented at galleries and festivals. It is free to participate and no special skills, technology or know-how are required to join in.
