LEARN | Public Participation

We’re all about training and learning at the moment. This week Linda completed two of the three modules that comprise the Certificate of Public Participation delivered by the International Association of Public Participation (IAP2). The third module will be delivered in December. IAP2 accreditation is widely respected and regarded as an industry benchmark for public participation. In this context, ‘public’ is viewed in its broadest sense to mean stakeholders. The IAP2 framework is rigorous, logical and flexible. It offers practitioners many tools for developing targeted and responsive engagement. Linda joined IAP2 many years ago with a view to undertaking the training. While we have been benchmarking against IAP2, we believe the accreditation will result in many benefits for our clients and their stakeholders including mutual understanding and better decision making.

Next week Linda will be presenting as part of a two day Healthy Cities Leadership Course. The course addresses urbanisation and the determinants of health and wellbeing. The course is based on the World Health Organisation’s Healthy Cities initiative. Led by Dr Evelyne de Leeuw, the program aims to build capacity for action about urban health management.
