Culture + Complexity + Change

APPOINTMENT | Changing Places

John Armstrong has been invited by Mission Australia to become a Local Enterprise Advisory Partnership (LEAP) member. In this capacity, he will take part in the social enterprise demonstration project, Changing Places. As a three year demonstration project, Changing Places will test, evaluate and share learnings from the development of a new model of sustainable place based social enterprises, based on the concept of social procurement.

Historically social enterprises have struggled to be sustainable as they lack a strong commercial focus and have not secured local support. Changing Places aims to address these issues and develop a model which delivers needed local services through social procurement, creates training and employment opportunities for local job seekers facing a range of barriers to employment and is commercial viable.

Changing Places is an initative managed by Mission Australia and funded by the Australian Government through its innovation fund, administered by DEEWR. The project will take place across three geographical clusters, Victoria, Northern Territory and Queensland. In Queensland, it will target the Brisbane, Ipswich and Logan regions.
