PROCESS | Disability aware consultation methods

Given that there is an increasing emphasis on user-designed service provision, it is essential that consultation and engagement methods are tailored for and by disabled clients to ensure needs are met.

Throughout 2008, Harbinger has undertaken a number of consultancies with Access Arts, the peak arts and disability organisation in Queensland. Through our ongoing relationship with Access Arts, we’ve refined our consultation processes to meet the needs of disabled clients and stakeholders. Our work with Access Arts is focused on the application of cultural wellbeing models across a number of contexts including policy, service design, training and enterprise.

Also, John Armstrong will be working with a statutory authority to coordinate a disability action plan and disability awareness training for staff. This project is highly customised to the needs of the organisation and, particularly, to the needs of the end-user of their services.
