COMMUNITY | Community Forum on 16 June, Carina

The next Ministerial Regional Community Forum will present a diverse and innovative array of ideas and propositions to the State Government and community. Please join the Forum on 16 June 2008 at the Carina Leagues Club, Creek Road, Carina, commencing 9.45am.

This is an opportunity to speak with Ministerial Regional Community Forum Members, who represent the social, economic, cultural and environment communities in the Greater Brisbane region and raise your issues with attending Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries.

During the Forum, Ministerial Regional Community Forum Members will be discussing topics with attending Ministers including;

  • Support for Nonprofit Enterprises – a proposal on supporting non-profit governance and the non-profit sector
  • Social enterprise – a proposal for the use of QUT Carseldine, while teaching is in hiatus, to house social enterprises, non-profit groups and other activities that encourage community and suburban economic development. It also highlights the need to consider planning and development along the northern corridor of the Greater Brisbane region and South East corner.
  • Urban water issues – proposals on water saving measures for the suburban and urban environment
  • Suitability Cards and Criminal History Checks – follow up on the previous report on this issue highlighting the need for a more streamlined process for obtaining suitability cards
